Released in 2011 on a split EP with Kawir, Grunwald (Anno Satanae 1410) is a monster of a track. War themed Death Metal with a touch of blackness laid out on an epic battlefield of war, death and defeat. It only clocks in at 6:28. But with the huge sound this track has, it sounds much longer. And all of this is done with tight song structure and very articulated musicianship.

about
"Grunwald (Anno Satanae 1410)" was a composed by Scythian for a split EP with Greek black metal band Kawir and released by Dead Congregation frontman Anastasis Valtsanis via his label Nuclear Winter Records (now defunct).
The song is based on the historical battle of Grunwald in 1410. It was the first track to feature contributions from all members of Scythian, including bassist Alexandros (Macabre Omen / The One).
Kawir's track is titled "Titanomachia" and can be purchased from the band directly.
lyrics
In Nomine Patri... Fili... Spiritus Sancti... DIE.
Two swords are the wages of sin,
Enslave the east and all within.
We ride like devils through the mist,
We bear the cross with iron fist...
With iron fist!
Grunwald...
Grunwald...
Grunwald...
Anno Satanae 1410.
I see the mighty clash of eighty-thousand men,
I hear the king of murder laughing in the hells,
I smell the taint of blood exploding in the air,
I feel the deathly touch of sabre, bolt and spear...
The eagle falters, his horses turn to flee,
I cut the infidel with fury and with glee,
I slay the righteous for my faith has made me blind,
I see their ranks implode before me...
Charge!
Grandmaster! We go to the fray...
To penitence and death!
The rumbling guns, the wrath of God...
Behold, the terror of men!
A curse upon Jagiello!
He will fall before his savage kin,
And the hounds of Vytautas...
They will perish for their sin!
Slava!
Stand to, regain your courage!
We are reborn invincible!
Jelal-ad-Din! Unleash your arrows!
We rush to aid our fallen men!
The wrath of God shall turn against the order!
We'll desecrate their bloody feast!
They send assassins to penetrate the forest!
Their desperation does not cease!
They mass like serpents...
The serpents gather at their feet,
We will envelop them...
Like flies upon the beast!
O sons of Litva!
Reclaim your honour!
Perkunas quickens us,
We howl into the terror!
We'll suffer death before...
DEFEAT!

Swirling guitars, furious drums, vocals that at the same time howl from infinite distance and are right up in your head; everything put into dissonant form with the help of unconventional songwriting. This album is my personal key to the icelanding black metal madness that I've ignored for way too long! Lukas Kaufmann

OK, I know I'm seriously missing in the 2016 department, still I have no excuse. This is genre and life changing.

I saw these lads performing at the Brightside in Brisbane, with Blood Incantation. They slapped hard, tight as a nun's butthole. Played the whole show the day of the heatwave in 40 degrees and broken A/C, hot AF but they delivered, and more. BI drummer called it quits 3/4 through the show, not them. Def stole the show. alexatl
